How could I have missed these beauts from Monday nights Met Ball. I think the whole Punk theme was somewhat subjective, but it’s cool to take a theme/genre and make it your own. Cameron Diaz’s blue cape dress hybrid was really different and I kinda love it.
I guess not everyone had fun at the big event though. Hmm, maybe if Paltrow didn’t wear that boring pink dress she would’ve had a better time. 😉
Hey, hi, no I’m not dead. Here I am. I don’t know if you can call it slacking when your blog drops off the place of the earth for two months. But I’m back hopefully with some new inspiration. What better way to get back to it than with the Met Ball. This year’s theme is Punk Rock, which is so awesome. This is one I would totally love to dress up for. You could really go all out with this and get crazy town.
So, I have a few obsessions. Umm, what’s up Madonna. This is so sick I’m freaking out a little bit. I feel like she would wear this normally to some random red carpet event, which I would hate because it’s so ridiculous, but for this night, this theme it’s amazing. Of course SJP went all out. I love the head piece, this is a perfect situation to wear something like that. At first I thought Hailee Steinfeld was a bit blah, but upon closer inspection, the embellishments are actually saftey pins, super clever. She’s so cute.
I want to be Jennifer Lawrence in this dress. She looks amaze. I love the dress detailing, the length, the headpiece, the red lipstick. Love it. I also want Sienna Miller’s jacket. That is pretty ridiciulous. Last two favorite’s are Nina Dobrev and Anne Hathaway. Hello blonde hair. I don’t I want that to be a forever thing, but I think she looks good. Total vamp. And I heart the pant dress on Dobrev. So much fun.
This past Friday, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Mprint Jewelry launch. Em Robertson is the creative master behind Mprint and has just released her Summer 2013 Travel Collection. After spending time in LA going to school and working in the business side of the industry, Em moved back from to her native Maine to start her own line.
This particular collection uses state transit pieces, and coins as pendents and center pieces for rings, necklaces and bracelets. I personally bought the Reeded Edge Bangle which I kind of fell in love with. After deciding on the purchase I was told that the edge of the bangle was created from the edge of coins. Pretty cool right? I was left asking myself, how the hell do you even do that?
Needless to say it was a pleasure meeting Em and her team and I really loved seeing her pieces. My next purchase may need to be the giant statement necklace. That thing was pretty sweet.
Why Anne Hathaway why?? I was so excited to see what you were going to wear and this is what you came up with..
I am so bored. She’s basically a column of white, and pale. As a long time fan of Rachel Zoe, I am disappointed in her quest for glam, because this is not the result she usually gives us. I mean, she looks nice. There is nothing wrong with how she looks, and I get that the back had some detailing, but I am still sitting hear yawning, and totally bummed.
Now again, Jennifer Lawrence, she looks perfectly fine. Pretty, put together. But how about you not wear the same dress you wore to the Golden Globes? Yes it’s a different color but the silhouette is exactly the same. And again all you see if a giant puff of white. How about we try a bit harder when we pretty much know we’re going to win an Oscar, eh?
This is another sad one for me. I don’t know if it’s just because she looked so amazing at the SAG awards or if it’s because I apparently just hate all white or light colored dresses, but I am not a fan of this Amanda Seyfried look. I hate the hair! And I hate style of the dress. She looks like she is being choked to death.
And finally Nicole Kidman. I don’t know if it’s Tom Cruise’s fault or who is to blame, but at some point she just stopped caring about her red carpet looks. She always wears the same body hugging, floor length dress, which is fine, sometimes she looks ok, but this is not one of those times. The colors are gross, yah I need to be eloquent, gross. It’s just not pretty, and why wouldn’t you want to look pretty??
Ok my rant is over, thanks for listening. 😉
Here it is again folks. Last and biggest show of the year. Initially I was really bored by what I saw. I was kind of surprised and disappointed in what I was seeing. There was so much white, boring ass white. Or pinky white. I need some color peeps! Overall I still feel a bit underwhelmed, but luckily after no giving up on the pre show, I found some I really liked.
Kerry Washington wore some color woot! The cut is very simple, but In love the red/coral color and the detailing on the top. This is soo pretty.
Amy Adams was full on princess in her Oscar de la Renta gown. It’s totally Oscar appropriate, I mean how often can you go all poufy and huge.
I love this dress Elie Saab on Sandra Bullock. It looks almost purple-grey glittery. And obvious she looks ridiculous in it.
All I will say is beautiful color. Insane necklace.
I really think this is the best Jessica Chastain has ever looked. This hairstyle is so perfect for her and I really love the unique color of this dress.
Naomi Watts is bright and bold in this metallic Armani Prive. It is so different from everything else you saw last night.
Halle Berry was the other metallic choice, which I like, less than Watts, but I think it looks sick on Ms. Berry.
The one white dress I really did like was Charlize Theron. The peplum is great, I really like the structure of it.
My final two favorites are Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Hudson. I love the color and cute of Reese’s dress and I think J. Hud speaks for herself.
Tomorrow, I’m bringing the ones I didn’t like so much. 😉
I know I’m like a week late with this post, (blame a little vaca) but I had to comment on Jennifer Lopez’s leg at the Grammy’s last week. I mean good god, she is like 43 and looks damn good. I of course couldn’t help but think of Angelina Jolie at the Oscar’s last year and thought, now this is how you show some leg. If my legs look like this I would want to wear underwear with drapery covering myself too. Note to Jolie, please keep your boney pale icky leg under your dress. Unless you somehow turn into J.Lo.
Of course I’ve been watching and waiting for Zara to come out with their new season. It’s finally happened and I am kind of obsessed with a particular pair of heels. Studded, neutral tone, ankle straps. So pretty to look at, I hope they will be on my feet soon.
