It’s Cannes week and I am dreaming of being on the beach in the south of France. So jealous of all if these peeps. Of course I can’t let this event go by without noting my favorite looks on the red carpet. I love Jessica Biel’s silver hotness and Ziyi Zhang’s cute tea length dress. There really shouldn’t even be an excuse to dress in designer gowns in France. We should just be doing that all the time.
Today is the day many ladies in the Portland area have been waiting for. The day Nordstrom Rack opens in South Portland. I got to visit the store early on Tuesday and got a peak at all of the goodies they have. First of all, the store is huge. For reals. The back of store has all of the shoes which was a pretty large collection of cute. I started there and found some Coach items that I am now coveting. I was also super excited about the sunglasses and accessories they had. So many sunglasses to choose from I wanted them all. The cat eye Michael Kors may need to come home with me sometime. Plus the Marc Jacobs bags and scarves are on my next shopping list. And of course the pants, jeans, dresses, tops, too many things to choose from! I might have to go back to get the colorful men’s socks for the husband.
Really the point is, definitely go visit this weekend if you can. New shopping in Maine is always exciting!
I have always loved denim jackets. You can wear it with literally anything. Throw it over a dress, gym clothes, leggings, it just cools up an outfit. You can practically wear it all year too. At least in Maine you can get a good three season’s out of it which makes it an even more worthwhile purchase. Personally I like the tradittional jacket, however I love the ombre and gray versions below. Maybe I need two??
How could I have missed these beauts from Monday nights Met Ball. I think the whole Punk theme was somewhat subjective, but it’s cool to take a theme/genre and make it your own. Cameron Diaz’s blue cape dress hybrid was really different and I kinda love it.
I guess not everyone had fun at the big event though. Hmm, maybe if Paltrow didn’t wear that boring pink dress she would’ve had a better time.
Hey, hi, no I’m not dead. Here I am. I don’t know if you can call it slacking when your blog drops off the place of the earth for two months. But I’m back hopefully with some new inspiration. What better way to get back to it than with the Met Ball. This year’s theme is Punk Rock, which is so awesome. This is one I would totally love to dress up for. You could really go all out with this and get crazy town.
So, I have a few obsessions. Umm, what’s up Madonna. This is so sick I’m freaking out a little bit. I feel like she would wear this normally to some random red carpet event, which I would hate because it’s so ridiculous, but for this night, this theme it’s amazing. Of course SJP went all out. I love the head piece, this is a perfect situation to wear something like that. At first I thought Hailee Steinfeld was a bit blah, but upon closer inspection, the embellishments are actually saftey pins, super clever. She’s so cute.
I want to be Jennifer Lawrence in this dress. She looks amaze. I love the dress detailing, the length, the headpiece, the red lipstick. Love it. I also want Sienna Miller’s jacket. That is pretty ridiciulous. Last two favorite’s are Nina Dobrev and Anne Hathaway. Hello blonde hair. I don’t I want that to be a forever thing, but I think she looks good. Total vamp. And I heart the pant dress on Dobrev. So much fun.
This past Friday, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Mprint Jewelry launch. Em Robertson is the creative master behind Mprint and has just released her Summer 2013 Travel Collection. After spending time in LA going to school and working in the business side of the industry, Em moved back from to her native Maine to start her own line.
This particular collection uses state transit pieces, and coins as pendents and center pieces for rings, necklaces and bracelets. I personally bought the Reeded Edge Bangle which I kind of fell in love with. After deciding on the purchase I was told that the edge of the bangle was created from the edge of coins. Pretty cool right? I was left asking myself, how the hell do you even do that?
Needless to say it was a pleasure meeting Em and her team and I really loved seeing her pieces. My next purchase may need to be the giant statement necklace. That thing was pretty sweet.
